Sarath Menon is Executive Director of Orissa Associates Pte Ltd, a consultancy firm that provides trade advisory services to public and private sector clients from around the world. Among the firm’s leading clients are the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the State of Virginia.
Prior to his present position, he was the Director, Office of Technology Corporation, for the United States – Asia Environmental Partnership program in Singapore, a U.S. government funded program that focused on trade development, regulatory policy and business facilitation within the Environmental industry in South East Asia. He was also involved in the chemical industry with a Japanese major.
Sarath has been an active volunteer in various industry groups for the last fifteen years. He was the Deputy Chair of the Environment Committee within the American Chamber of Commerce in Singapore from 1996 to 1998, and then the Chair of that committee the following 2 years. In 2000, Sarath was invited to serve on the Board of Governors of Amcham. In 2005, after stepping down from the Board, Sarath took on the role of chairing the Chamber’s SME Committee. Other positions that he has held include serving as the President of the American States & Ports Association (ASPA), a grouping of U.S. States and Ports with a presence in South East Asia, and as a member of the Steering Committee for the ASEAN Environmental Improvement Project, a USAID funded program.
In 1997, Sarath received the Distinguished Service Award, jointly awarded by the U.S. Department of Commerce and the U.S. Agency for International Development, for his work in both promoting US environmental exports and fostering sustainable economic development in the region.
Sarath holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from the National University of Singapore.
