Fred Whiton is the Director of the CBRNE Defense and International Programs business area responsible for production programs within the Government Systems Division at Northrop Grumman Electronic Systems Sector. Mr. Whiton has over 25 years of experience in program management, operations management, and engineering management related to the design, development and deployment of defense systems including 17 years within advanced chemical, biological, radiological, and explosives detection and counter-measure programs. 
 
Mr. Whiton is responsible for developing and implementing the CBRNE Defense and International Programs Strategic Plan within Government Systems. Mr. Whiton leads the Multi-Sector WMD Threat Management Market Solution Team supporting the Northrop Grumman Office of Homeland Security Campaign. Upon receiving a bachelor of science in engineering from the University of Maryland of Maryland in 1983, Mr. Whiton began his career with General Dynamics. In 1985, he attained a MSME from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. In 1988, he attained a Masters in Management from The George Washington University. Mr. Whiton is currently enrolled in the Executive MBA Program at The University of Chicago.
 
Mr. Whiton worked for Lockheed Martin from 1985 to 1990 and for Smiths Detection from 1990 to 2004 and progressed to the level of Vice President at Smiths Detection responsible for Operations and Engineering. Mr. Whiton serves on the Board of Directors of the Regional Manufacturing Institute, the Board of Directors for NDIA-APG Chapter, and had a appointment from 2003 to 2006 by Gov. Ehrlich to the Md. Advisory Commission on Manufacturing Competitiveness.
